I was born in Seattle and raised in Edmonds . I attended Central Washington University in Ellensburg, where I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in History (cum laude) in 1988. I attended the Willamette College of Law , graduating in 1991. After law school, I was an associate attorney at the Ballard law firm of Mullavey, Prout, Grenley, Foe & Lawless, with a practice consisting of general civil litigation.

I left in 1996 to work as in-house counsel and operations manager for a petroleum marketer and distributor, Davis Industries. In 2001, I returned to private practice, joining Greg and Janine Lawless as an associate attorney. I represented individuals, families, and business involved in a range of civil litigation matters.

In 2004, I opened my solo practice, again concentrating on representing parties involved in a range of disputes. In my current practice, I represent people involved in disputes with neighbors over boundary issues, timber and landscape matters, and common sewer-line maintenance issues. My clients have included persons and business with disputes regarding the scope and enforceability of easements, covenants affecting real estate, and the enforceability of real estate purchase and sale agreements. I have also enjoyed working with guardians in contested matters, including recovery of fraudulently conveyed real property and conversion of personal property from incapacitated individuals.

I have appeared in matters in the Superior and District Courts of King, Snohomish and Pierce Counties as well as Division One of the Washington Court of Appeals.

Because of the nature of the matters that I handle and the emotional and financial cost of litigation, I will often encourage my clients and work with them in alternative dispute resolution processes. Whether through informal negotiation or more formal mediation or arbitration, I always strive to assist my clients in reaching effective and satisfactory resolutions to their disputes.

I am a lifelong resident of the Pacific Northwest. I am active in the Washington State and King County Bar Associations. I also volunteer my time with the local Chapter of Families with Children from China.
